Jasper

This friendly frontier town lies in the middle of spectacular scenery and a true unspoilt wilderness, where nature steals the show; elk, moose and caribou roam free, whilst a symphony of colours can be seen in the magnificent dawns and dusks. Today, Jasper offers the same unpretentious charm as it did in the old days when frequented by fur traders. The Marmot Basin ski area has uncrowded slopes, majestic alpine bowls and beautifully groomed tree-lined runs, all covered by one of the best value lift passes in Canada.

Beginners -

The School House T-bar accesses ideal nursery slopes and the Marmot Basin ski school offers caring instruction for beginners. Easy confidence boosting runs include Home Run, Sleepy Hollow and Bunny Hop and novice terrain is available from almost all lifts.

Intermediates -

Over 70 uncrowded, named trails, the longest 5.6kms long. Try runs like Tranquiliser off the Eagle Express high speed quad chair, Scenic Paradise from the top of Caribou Ridge or the Knob Traverse below Marmot Peak.

Advanced -

Enjoy exciting bump runs such as Exhibition under the triple chair, the chutes of Dupres Bowl or the untracked powder through the trees on Chalet Slope. The opening of Eagle East is superb news for advanced skiersand if you have any energy left, hike to Marmot Peak and fly down the powdery runs.

Snowboarding -

There are regular events such as The New Ground Snowboard Cup and the Easy Rider Cup. Those wanting to freeride should check out Eagle East where the bowls are sure to give you a grin. Freestylers will not feel left out with a good snowboard park and natural grooves in the snow such as Punch Bowl.
