Château d'Oex is full of charm and character, packed with restaurants, shops and bars and with a worldwide reputation for its hot air balloon festival at the end of January. There is skiing throughout the valley from the nearby villages of Saanen, Schönried and Saanenmöser, as well as Château d'Oex and all are linked by rail and bus. The terrain is varied to suit all sandards of skiers and snowboarders and a full area lift pass also gives access to the Diablerets glacier, Villars and Leysin ski areas.
Beginners - 



The panoramic blue runs of Mont Chevreuils provide perfect terrain for first timers who will soon progress onto the runs of La Braye. The excellent tuition provided by the Swiss Ski School will soon have beginners advancing to the more challenging runs of the area.
Intermediates - 



The largest area for intermediate skiers is accessed from the nearby villages of Schönried and Saanenmöser with tree lined red and blue runs. Ski the many 1000m descents and enjoy the stunning views over the Gstaad valley. Try the long exhilarating run from La Braye or the snaking pistes which emerge from the woods at Les Moulins.
Advanced - 


Take a bus ride up to the Col du Pillon, to ski the challenging Diablerets Glacier. There is also unlimited off-piste opportunities around the Schönried-Saanenmöser area and challenging moguls on the Wassengrat.
Snowboarding - 



With over 150 miles of terrain any rider is sure to find stuff to please here. There is a pipe for freestylers to ride and freeriders will be happy with some good off-piste and well groomed pistes to practice those carves. Beginners also have good slopes to gain confidence on.

Aprs Ski
All the villages in the area offer a variety of bars and restaurants. Iggys Bar at the Gstaaderhof Hotel, Sammys Bar, Down Town Bar, Rialto Bar, Richi’s Pub in Gstaad, Le Richemont, La Bamba, Castel Pub and Blues Bars in Château d'Oex.
