Livigno Ski Resort

This is an inspired all-round ski resort offering high altitude skiing, stretching out across the dazzling Valtellina alpine valley near the Swiss border. Livigno boasts modern ski services whilst retaining the traditional rustic character of its original three villages, and further more, its duty-free status will thrill bargain hunters. From November through until May, there is an extensive choice of slopes to suit every type of skier, and plenty of winter activities to entertain and delight any non-skiers.

Beginners

Livigno is ideal for beginners with wide nursery slopes stretching out along the resort, and the sunny lower flanks of Costaccia are particularly beautiful and easy-going. There are beginners’ lifts and with an exceptional standard of instruction from the English-speaking ski school, it won’t be long before you will feel confident enough to tackle the longer runs.

Intermediates

There are several varied and thrilling slopes to take your pick from in and around Livigno. From the long run beneath the Mottolino gondola to a speedier descent from the top of Costaccia, you really are immersed into skiers’ paradise. Those more advanced intermediates will find attempting the black slopes a gripping pleasure, you can rest assured that they are not so much severe and dangerous descents, but certainly an exciting challenge.

Advanced

There are limited black runs and those who are very experienced skiers will be frustrated at the lack of steep slopes. However, there is vast off-piste available with guidance, otherwise you may wish to head to neighbouring St. Moritz for further slopes to test out.

Snowboarding

Livigno is perfect for snowboarders of all levels and disciplines, offering a vital sense of space and fun. Most of the smaller slopes are serviced by drags that are great for beginners; meanwhile those with experience can rush through the rolling motorways or the beautiful open powder fields. In addition, there is also the Madness Snowboard School, along with a board park with a half pipe and jumps.

Apres Ski

You get a real taste of Italian atmosphere and fun inside the restaurants, bars and live music venues through Livigno and its neighbouring resorts. For tea time liveliness head to Tea del Vidal or Stalet bar, or if you simply want to relax and unwind, a warm and friendly ambience comes free in all bars throughout the valley.

Activities

You can indulge in a stroll around the local duty-free shops and perfumeries, or if you feel like something more stirring, there are activities ranging from horse riding, ice climbing, dog sleighing, paragliding and skidoos. If you have any extra energy to burn after a day’s skiing, try out the ice rink or the swimming pool at Spöl Hotel. If that’s not for you, why not simply relax and watch a film at the cinema, or indulge in hot chocolate from one of the many café’s.

Eating Out

There are plenty of restaurants and pizzerias to choose from during your stay at Livigno. For traditional cuisine for reasonable prices try Hotel Corcordia and Helvetia, or you can treat yourself to fresh seafood from Pesce d’Oro. One thing is for certain, all of the restaurants provide great service and delicious food making you spoiled for choice.
