Cortina Ski Resort

Cortina, known as the Pearl of the Dolomites, is one of the top resorts in the Dolomiti Superski area. It is in a wide, bowl shaped valley surrounded by spectacular mountains whose slopes are guaranteed to be perfectly groomed, 90% of them with snow making facilities. The local skiing is extensive and varied and other resorts such as S.Cassiano and Corvara in the Dolomiti Superski area are easily reached from the Falzarego pass. The resort offers numerous activities including many for the non skier.

Beginners

The ski school meets at Socrepes where beginners start off on wide and gentle slopes. Additional nursery slopes are located in no less than three other areas. After the first day beginners who have mastered the baby drag lift can enjoy an extensive area of blue runs.

Intermediates

Start off on the Tofana area where at Ra Valles there is a wide open bowl, usually with good powder conditions. On the opposite side of Cortina, the Faloria and Cristallo areas have some excellent slopes for most grades of skier. Join your Crystal Ski Escort to ski the acclaimed Sella Ronda 26kms circuit.

Advanced

Strictly for the fearless are two very steep and narrow runs - the Forcella Rossa from Ra Valles and the Staunies from Cristallo. There are many long runs both above and below the treeline on both sides of the valley.

Snowboarding

The terrain here is vast and will suit all. Freeriders should check out the runs down from the Tofana for the best powder. Freestylers should exploit the Tofana area which has loads of natural hits and kickers to play on. Progression should be easy for beginners on mellow, wide slopes.

Apres Ski

Hotel de la Poste or the Enoteca or Osteria Wine Bars for aperitifs • Try the Clipper Bar and the American Bar in the centre of town. Night owls will favour the Blu Room or Hyppo discos.
