Seefeld

Twice venue for the Winter Olympics, Seefeld is an attractive village set on a sunny plateau close to the Tyrolean capital, Innsbruck. It is an international ski resort with separate ski areas for beginners and intermediates. It has an excellent range of shops, bars and cafés, a superb sports centre, excellent cross-country skiing facilities, excursions, sleigh rides, a casino, etc. With the 'Happy Ski Card' area lift pass you can also "Ski 2 Countries" as the pass includes Garmisch-Partenkirchen/Zugspitze in Germany (connected by train/ski bus - local charge), home of Germany's only World Cup downhill run. Seefeld is an excellent choice for groups of mixed ability skiers or groups including non-skiers.

Beginners

For a gentle introduction to skiing, Seefeld’s superb ski school and slopes are highly recommended. Lessons begin on the Geigenbühel beginners' area, perfect for mastering those snowplough turns.

Intermediates

The Gschwandtkopf, served by a series of 8 chairlifts and tows, is close to the village centre and caters mostly for lower intermediates. From the other end of the village, a mountain railway allows you to travel in comfort up to the Rosshütte, offering more challenging pistes for intermediates.

Advanced

While adventurous experts may find the area limiting, there are one or two runs on the Rosshütte which should not be taken lightly. The upper slopes of the Seefelder Joch are often heavily mogulled and the off-piste on the far side of the Härmelekopf is excellent, but should only be tackled with a guide. With your area pass you can also head over the border to ski in nearby Garmisch, Germany. Don't miss a run down the "Kandahar" - Germany's only World Cup downhill!

Snowboarding

Local riders from Innsbruck can be found in the half-pipe and snowboard park here. For intermediates there is some good terrain to explore and beginners shouldn't find the terrain too stressful.
