Galtür

The small village of Galtür has a cosy, Tyrolean atmosphere. Quieter than neighbouring Ischgl, it has a lot to offer, not least doorstep sking, straight from the hotel! The Silvretta area lift pass gives access to Ischgl and Galtür (free ski bus - 10 minute's between Ischgl and Galtür) - 330kms of pistes, amazing off-piste and some of the best snowboarding in the Alps. The area also enjoys excellent snow records until late into the season and you can "Ski 2 Countries" with some great pistes on the Swiss side of the Ischgl ski area, right down to the Swiss village of Samnaun!

Beginners

Galtür has some nice, gentle nursery slopes in the village. Under the expert supervision of the local instructors, you will begin on the Wirl beginner lift and progress on to the Soppalift. As your confidence grows you may even progress higher into the ski area to enjoy the longer blue runs and the amazing views from the top.

Intermediates

The slopes of the Kopsalpe ski bowl in Galtür, above the lake of 'Kopssee', offer an excellent selection of red runs. Ischgl also has some great runs in the Alp Trida and Palinkopf areas. An absolute must during your stay is the 12km run from the top of Ischgl's Palinkopf down into Samnaun in Switzerland.

Advanced

There are a good range of on-piste blacks in Ischgl and some fantastic tourng routes, but the area really comes into its own, at Galtür and Ischgl, when you take a guide and head for the off-piste, for which the area is reknown.

Snowboarding

The Silvretta area is a snowboarder's paradise. Ischgl held the first ever snowboarding World Cup back in 1993 and not the facilities and atmosphere are better than ever! Of course the mountains are just the same - huge off-piste, great freeriding terrain and now also one of the biggest and best freestyle parks in the Alps!
