Ski Resorts in Bulgaria
Bulgaria has long been an established favourite for UK skiers. Despite the limited choice of ski resorts in Bulgaria, it's rock bottom prices for both ski holidays and in Bulgaria's ski resorts themselves have been the attraction.
Over recent years Bulgaria has become more westernised, which includes rising prices as well as standards. Continued investment in ski resorts in Bulgaria has led to a bid from Sofia (the skiing would be in Borovets) to host the 2014 Winter Olympics, although much further investment will be needed if the bid is to be successful.
Bulgaria's ski resorts are best suited to beginners and early intermediates. There are very few black runs in all the ski resorts in Bulgaria put together. Bulgaria's ski schools have a good reputation and English is spoken widely.
Food served in the mountain restaurants is generally basic - although steak is served in most of them.
As Bulgaria's ski resorts are relatively low, their snow record early and late season can be patchy, although there has been some investment in snowmaking equipment .
